No. Password managers support everyday access. CAPSULENE prepares what should happen when you cannot provide guidance yourself.

A secure account can still leave people with no idea what to do next. That is the continuity gap: the information exists and is protected, but nobody else knows what exists, where it is, who to contact, or what to do first.

No. CAPSULENE is for continuity — the context, instructions, and access guidance that point to where your real assets live. Your accounts, wallets, documents, and systems stay where you already keep them.

No. CAPSULENE provides digital continuity, not legal succession. It should be used alongside appropriate legal and estate-planning arrangements.

Anyone with an e-mail address — a family member, a friend, a lawyer, a co-founder. You can add a phone number for SMS or WhatsApp delivery as well. Recipients need no CAPSULENE account.

It depends on the Capsule type. Text Capsules are processed by CAPSULENE for delivery. A Key holder uses client-side encryption and 2-of-3 key sharing, so CAPSULENE cannot decrypt the protected secret by itself.

Use a Text Capsule for guidance, instructions, messages, and context. Use a Key holder for high-sensitivity secret material such as passwords, recovery phrases, or private keys. Never put secrets in a Text Capsule.

Yes. A Key holder can encrypt files — documents, a keystore, photos, a video message — under the same 2-of-3 shares. It happens entirely in your browser, and the encrypted files never reach CAPSULENE. You store them wherever you like; your recipient decrypts them on the delivery page with no account needed.

Yes. From the Utilities page you can download a self-contained offline decryptor: a single HTML file that opens your encrypted files and shares with no internet and no CAPSULENE. Its format is published and it is built from the same code as the app.

Sign-in uses one-time e-mail codes, Google, or a passkey — there is no reusable CAPSULENE password to leak. On top of any of these you can enable two-factor authentication with any authenticator app, at every login or once a day, and keep eight single-use recovery codes as the lost-phone escape hatch.

Add a backup e-mail under Account → Security — it is the only way back into your account, because support can never restore access, no matter who asks. Recovery through the backup address opens a 48-hour waiting window and alerts your usual address, which can cancel the attempt with one click. With two-factor authentication on, your authenticator code still applies.

The Shamir secret-sharing library behind Key holders has been audited (Cure53 and Zellic). CAPSULENE itself has not yet had an independent product audit; that is on our roadmap, and we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise.

Nothing is released immediately. The reminders and grace period selected for the Capsule come first.

By default, monthly, with a 3-day grace period and reminders. Paid packages let you choose daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, every two years, or a fixed calendar date, plus your own grace period and reminder behavior.

Yes. You can unschedule, edit, or delete a Capsule at any time as long as it has not been released.

Yes. Before release, you can update, pause, or delete a Capsule, subject to the current product rules — a Key holder’s secret is locked after saving, but its recipient, timing, and release can still be changed or withdrawn.

Yes. Besides check-in-based release, a Capsule can release on a specific date you choose — a birthday, an anniversary, a date years out.

CAPSULENE is free to start. Paid packages are recurring subscriptions — monthly or yearly — that raise how many Text Capsules and Key holders you can keep active at the same time, and set which optional features (custom check-in timing, SMS, WhatsApp, login-required check-ins) your Capsules can use. Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as merchant of record and adds any applicable tax at checkout; CAPSULENE never sees or stores your card details.

Yes. From your account you can cancel anytime, update your payment method, and view or download invoices through Stripe’s secure billing portal. If you cancel, your package stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for.

A failed payment never silently disarms a Capsule. If a renewal fails — which can simply mean your card expired — CAPSULENE starts a check-in and asks you to confirm you are available, with your usual grace period and reminders. Confirm and the Capsule unschedules (renew to re-arm it); do not respond and it is delivered as intended. You control this per Capsule in its advanced settings, separately for a failed payment and for a cancellation. Capsules on the free tier are unaffected.

You can permanently delete your account from Account → Security. It is confirmed with a code sent by e-mail (plus your two-factor code if enabled), then enters a short grace period of a few days during which nothing is erased yet. Sign in again before it ends and your account is kept. If the window passes, your account and all Capsules — including already-delivered ones — are permanently deleted and your subscription cancelled. Stripe keeps past invoices and tax records as required by law.
